Install New Water Meter

To have a new water meter installed on your property there are several items to be considered.

Does your property have access to our water system?

Our water system extends south of the city of Western Grove located on Hwy 65 to the city of Gilbert on Hwy 333 just south of Saint Joe. After you determine that water is available to your property you will need to either have a Septic Tank Permit from a Perk Test (Soil Analysis) or a letter of exemption for 10 or more acres.  The letter of exemption can be obtained from Billy Joe Rea, County Sanitarian at 870-448-3374.  This is required by the State of Arkansas and enforced by the Arkansas Department of Health.  If you have any questions concerning this please give us a call or speak with the county sanitarian.

The fees for having a new water meter installed are as follows:

3/4" Connection Fee   

$1,095.00  Providing the Water Main is on the property
1" Connection Fee

$1395.00  Providing the Water Main is on the property
 

If the Water Main is across the road from the property on a county road there will be additional cost to run the water across the road.  If it is a paved road or highway a road bore will be required also at additional cost.
Water meter deposit   $50.00 / residence

Inspection Fee 

$  40.00 / from water meter to yard hydrant on existing home or mobile home
 

$130.00 for a new home

The plumbing inspector is Larry Evans who is licensed by the Arkansas Dept of Head

Larry requires a 24 hour notice for an inspection.  All emergency trips and

Sunday inspections will include a milage charge of $ .50 per mile.                                                  

SPG requires the following items to be installed for a new water service line:

  •   Schedule 40 PVC Pipe or greater
  •   Pressure Regulator
  •   Ball or Gate Valve
